On April 24, Mart Jagomägi, member of the main committee of the Year of the Estonian Book, visited Valga Museum.

Last year, Valga Museum, together with Valga Central Library and several branch libraries, participated in the embroidery of a tapestry dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Estonian book. The tapestry was in Valga County from November 9 to 29. Valga Museum was responsible for completing this beautiful artwork from November 12 to 16. When the 9th Estonian-Latvian History Conference took place at the Valga Cultural Center, which was also dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the native-language printed word, the half-finished tapestry could be admired by participants of the history conference. During the remaining four days, nimble, embroidering fingers continued working on the piece in the museum’s rooms.

Now Mart Jagomägi came to Valgamaa to personally present the tapestry’s thank-you medal to the people and groups who contributed to completion of the tapestry.

The medal is on display in a glass showcase in the foyer of Valga Museum.
