Valga Museum is housed in an Art Nouveau building at Vabaduse 8, Valga. We want a visit to the museum to be as comfortable and accessible as possible for all visitors.
Access to the museum building
The museum has two entrances.
The main entrance faces Vabaduse Street. The main doorway, flanked by two columns, is marked by a large sign reading VALGA MUUSEUM above the door.
The second entrance is at the rear of the museum building, facing the car park. This door also has a large sign reading VALGA MUUSEUM above it.
Wheelchair users can enter the museum through either entrance. Most areas inside the museum building are wheelchair accessible.
Lift
A lift provides access from the ground floor to the first and second floors.
The lift has an audible announcement system. The floor buttons are marked with raised numbers that can also be used by visitors with visual impairments. The numbers are white against a contrasting black background, making them easier for partially sighted visitors to distinguish.
Accessibility limitations
Access to the former bank room on the first floor may be difficult for wheelchair users because of the high thresholds of the historic bank doors.
The displays in the stairwell between the ground and first floors and between the first and second floors cannot be viewed from the usual vantage points by wheelchair users. They can be viewed from the stair landings, but only from a limited distance.
If you need more detailed information about access to a particular exhibition or room before your visit, please contact us.
Audio guide
An audio guide is available to visitors on request in five languages:
- Estonian
- English
- Latvian
- Finnish
- Russian
You can ask a member of the museum's visitor services staff for an audio guide.
Guide dogs and pets
Guide dogs are welcome in the museum.
Small pets may also be brought into the museum, but please arrange this with us before your visit.
