This year's already traditional Valga Museum Night will take place on May 16 from 6 PM to 10 PM, and all events are free for participants.
The current exhibitions at the Valga Museum open to visitors:
- Bright as a festive mood, steadfast as a sense of home – Souvenirs and symbols from Valgamaa, in the museum's permanent exhibition hall.
- Archaeological Fieldwork in Estonia 2025 – in the first hall of the museum gallery. This is a traveling exhibition around Estonia, and during Museum Night, it will be on display in Valga. Several finds related to Valga County are also exhibited.
- The Charm and Pain of Pollinators – in the back hall of the museum gallery, and this exhibition should offer plenty of activities for school-aged children.
At 18:00, the following craft workshops will begin in the museum building, conducted by Karin Varblane and Urve Ploomi in the Valga Museum rooms. The exciting workshop topics are listed below:
- What voice do I read and write with?
- Does a pencil holder talk too?
- Paper dolls’ daytime party.
- Paper robot car rally.
At the same time, guided tours in the museum and the city will begin as follows:
- The Yellow Train, intended primarily for children and families, starts its journey in Valga city, with Priit Riemann as the guide.
- The Latvian-language guided tour in Valga Museum is conducted by Ligita Drubina from the Valka Local History Museum.
- The museum will also host our traditional search game FIND IT, which requires attention from museum visitors.
At 19:00, the following guided tours will take place:
- The Estonian-language guided tour at Valga Museum is conducted by Rainer Kuutma.
- The guided tour of Valga city in German, English, or French is conducted by Claude Lejeune.
At 20:00, a musical family quiz will be held, hosted by Ivar Mõttus. Families or groups of friends of up to four people can participate. Participants will hear short excerpts of music pieces related to the night, followed by multiple-choice questions.
At 20:30, the PIIRILINNA BIGBAND swing and pop music concert will begin in the Valga Museum courtyard. The big band is led by Peeter Norman and the soloist is Kaidi Kuusk.
At 21:30, we will award the winners of the competitions.
