Exhibition World History in Wax Figures
From February 29 to March 31, Valga Museum presents one of the most impressive wax figure collections in Europe.
The highlight of the exhibition is a composition inspired by Sandro Botticelli's famous painting The Birth of Venus, depicting the mystical birth of the goddess Venus from sea foam. Alongside Venus, visitors can also see the ancient Greek goddess Athena.
Nearly 40 figures are on display for visitors. The exhibition is divided into different sections: historical figures, great writers and artists, popular actors and musicians, as well as heroes from children's films and cartoons.
The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see life-size figures of the elite of art history with your own eyes – Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Salvador Dali, and others.
The children's section presents a rich collection of cartoon heroes. From the film Ice Age, you can see the legendary squirrel and sloth, as well as Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and pirate queen Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) from Pirates of the Caribbean.
"The representative collection of wax figures visiting Valga Museum is not only an entertaining event, but also educates the public," notes exhibition curator Armen Arutunyan. "All the figures are made by Europe's leading masters in this field. In their work, they used only historically reliable data and materials. Special attention has been paid to the costumes of historical figures."
The exhibition is open at the Valga Museum from February 29 to March 31, Tuesday to Friday from 11 am to 6 pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Regular ticket €5, discounted ticket €4, family ticket €14 (2 adults and 2-3 children). Payment in cash only.
