Event time
23.04.2026 until 23.06.2026
Location
Valga linn

With the support of the Estonian Museum Association and the charity fund Aitan lapsi (Aid for Kids), free museum classes for children are held in various museums all over Estonia.

The topic of the lessons conducted by Valga Museum is to introduce Valga as a railway town. In today's lesson, students from the 7th and 8th grades of Valga Basic School participated. They reviewed the current railway-related structures and explored what remains of the historical railway buildings. The formation of the railway junction in Valga in 1889 led to the rapid development of the town at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, which contributed to Valga's reputation as a railway town. It is also interesting to observe the changes that the arrival of the railway brought to the town's architecture.

Such open-air museum lessons will continue until Midsummer Eve. If interested, please contact Valga Museum's researcher and education manager Karin Varblane by email at karin@valgamuuseum.ee or by mobile phone at 53730029. The language of instruction is Estonian.
